General Motors Africa and the Middle East, together with its partner Middle East Battery Company (MBKO), is celebrating 30 years of its strategic partnership, which began with “AC Delco,” General Motors’ leading aftermarket brand. This milestone coincides with General Motors’ celebration of 100 years of presence in the region.
Over the past three decades, General Motors and AC Delco have worked to expand the brand’s presence throughout the region, resulting in the production of more than 60 million AC Delco batteries to date—a milestone that reflects the depth of the industrial collaboration between the two companies and their commitment to the Saudi market in particular.
This partnership reflects General Motors’ long-standing commitment to local production and its confidence in the manufacturing capabilities of its Saudi partners, supported by ongoing investment in the local economy and a shared commitment to helping improve driver safety on the roads, according to a statement issued by the two companies.

The local production line in Saudi Arabia is one of the company’s most important manufacturing facilities outside of General Motors’ major global markets, reflecting the scale of long-term investment that the partnership between the two sides has accumulated since its inception.
