Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: The Ultimate Open-Top Supercar

Following the successful introduction of the acclaimed mid-engined hybrid Valhalla Coupe earlier this year, Aston Martin has presented the new Valhalla Spider – the ultimate expression of roof-off driving and the fastest open-cockpit Aston Martin ever made. Announced from Gaydon on 28 October 2026, the new model will begin reaching customers in Q3 2027.

As Aston Martin’s first mid-engined open-cockpit production supercar, the Valhalla Spider sets out to increase the opportunities for driver enjoyment while preserving the class-leading dynamic bandwidth that gives Valhalla its accessible performance and engagement on both road and track.

The Valhalla Spider uses a comprehensive roof system designed to preserve the clean, flowing lines of the Coupe. A removable and stowable black fabric roof is fitted as standard (the carbon fibre hard top is standard in the USA), allowing speeds of up to a class-leading 200km/h (124mph). An optional carbon fibre hard top gives unrestricted roof-on access to the electronically limited top speed of 350km/h (217mph), and a rain cover is also provided for static use.

Crucially, the Valhalla Spider can also reach Vmax with its roof removed, making it the fastest open-cockpit Aston Martin ever. A unique clip-in wind deflector manages airflow over the open cockpit, pulling cooling air down to the snorkel while lifting air over the occupants. The snorkel itself has been reprofiled and sits 35mm taller, and with the roof on the deflector folds into three parts and stows in new 15-litre sill compartments.

Active aerodynamics and more than 600kg of downforce

Development continued in close collaboration with Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT), the consulting arm of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1® Team. The Spider keeps the Coupe’s whole-vehicle active aerodynamics, with revised active aero and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) calibrations that adapt to airflow in both roof-on and roof-off conditions. Maximum downforce exceeds 600kg (with roof fitted).

At its core is a version of the Coupe’s bespoke carbon fibre tub, designed and engineered by AMPT using a combination of Resin-Transfer-Moulding (RTM) and F1®-derived autoclave technology for an immensely stiff, strong and light passenger cell. The signature carbon fibre dihedral doors remain, now with refined kinematics for smoother operation and a frameless design.

1,079PS plug-in hybrid powertrain

The Valhalla Spider shares the Coupe’s 1,079PS and 1,100Nm plug-in hybrid powertrain. At its heart is a bespoke 828PS 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 with a specific output of 207bhp per litre – the highest of any Aston Martin combustion engine. Three e-motors add a further 251PS: two drive the front e-axle with full Electric Torque Vectoring, while the third, integrated with the 8-speed DCT, assists the V8 in driving the rear axle and e-diff.

New Touring Seat and four drive modes

A new carbon fibre Touring Seat comes as standard, improving comfort and ease of entry and exit with the roof on, while the Coupe’s original carbon fibre seat can be retained at no cost for more dynamic support. Aston Martin’s Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control (IVC) manages drive to each wheel and works with four driver-selectable modes – Sport, Sport+, Race and EV. Carbon ceramic brakes, Bilstein DTX adaptive damping and a suite of driver assistance systems complete the package.

“Valhalla Spider builds on those impressive ‘firsts’, preserving the aesthetic beauty and dynamic bandwidth of Valhalla Coupe while introducing the expanded opportunities for enjoyment and engagement that can only be found in an open-cockpit supercar. High speed or low speed. Rain or shine. Roof on or roof off. Road or track. Valhalla Spider ticks every box.”

Global debut

The Valhalla Spider makes its global debut this weekend at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas. Combining hypercar-level performance with open-air driving, it is set to draw strong interest from luxury car enthusiasts across the Gulf, where the British marque enjoys a loyal following.
